Welcome!
My e-portfolio is designed to introduce myself as an educator. I have taught for 20 years, all in the Prince William County Public School District. I have worked with students with disabilities, including Moderate Cognitive Impaired (MoCI), Hearing Impaired, and Autistic students. In May 2013, I will obtain my Masters in Education degree in Inclusion Education from the University of New England. My objective after obtaining my Masters degree is to teach in the regular classroom, while remaining at the elementary school level.
Some of my hobbies include photography and music. Although my involvement in photography is minimal, right now, and my involvement in music consists of discovering new music to add to my collection. I actively follow several sports; including hockey, baseball, and football. I have a natural curiosity to learn about subjects or topics that interest me (history, for example).
My portfolio consists of five main sections that serves to highlight my abilities as a quality educator. The Reflection page offers information about me and my experiences in the University of New England MSEd program. My Contact Me section provides an opportunity for you to leave feedback and comments! The Resume section contains information about my education and work experience. My Mission Statement & Educational Philosophy section describes the attributes I bring to the classroom as well as my personal statement on how I view myself as an educator.
The NBPTS Standards page contains the Five Core Propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, which describes the expected teaching standards. Each of the five standards has a sub-page under the main standards page. These sub-pages contain two, sometimes three, artifacts that demonstrate their relevance to each standard. The NBPTS standards page also contains link to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
