Team Teaching lesson plan in elementary Physical Education.
Proposition 4: Teachers Think Systematically about Their Practice and Learn from Experience.
*NBCTs model what it means to be an educated person – they read, they question, they create and they are willing to try new things.
*They are familiar with learning theories and instructional strategies and stay abreast of current issues in American education.
*They critically examine their practice on a regular basis to deepen knowledge, expand their repertoire of skills, and incorporate new findings into their practice.

rationale
The Independent Research Project artifact was chosen because I feel bullying is a problem that occurs in every school, and we as educators, need to explore all possible ways to reduce the incidents of bullying. At Signal Hill Elementary, we have employed the Olweus anti-bullying program, and are consistently striving to educate the students on how to stand up to bullies as well as what to do if a student witnesses bullying at school, on the school bus, etc.
The Team Teaching lesson plan demonstrates how well collaboration works in the classroom. When teachers practice team teaching, the students benefit from different teaching styles from each teacher. Some students relate to certain teachers in a way that helps them to thoroughly learn the material. Teachers benefit greatly from collaboration as well. Team teaching allows teachers to show off their area of expertise, to collaborate on lesson planning, and to develop an equal voice in the classroom.

Reflection
The research project outlined various data, techniques, and programs concerning bullying in school. The information gathered in the paper highlights collaboration between school staff, parents, and community leaders has been a positive tool against bullying. Properly training school staff on the implementation of bullying programs and intervention strategies was a strong suggestion on how to combat bullying. Most important is the need to design programs to empower students to use coping skills and anti-bullying techniques.
The co-teaching technique worked well with our classes. Team teaching is one of the techniques that my assistant and I do quite often in class. During team teaching, the focus can be not only on the whole group, but additional support is provided for students who are struggling with the lesson or skill. Additionally, one teacher demonstrates the skill or task, while the other teacher focuses on the directions. This benefits both the cognitive and kinesthetic learners. The co-teachers also provide feedback during the lesson, which allows the students to experience both teaching styles.
